| A former Monroe golf standout, Blackburn lettered all four years for Monroe in golf. In her junior and senior year, Blackburn took home a third place finish in the State tournament in '15 and '16. Also a distinguished student, she earned honor roll all four years of high school. With the state taking notice of her unique skill set as a golfer, Sammi Blackburn was offered a scholarship to play for Bowling Green State University. |
Gomia, a current student as of 2018, was the first ever Monroe student to represent the school at the Division I level for a state competititon. On beating his last competition to qualify, Gomia stated, “I shut my mind and just closed my eyes and swung. I was just hoping it went straight. It felt pretty good when it was over. I could finally breathe.” |
